Two satellites Skoltech B1 and Skoltech B2 are the first in the project "SwarmSat". Satellites were developed and build by engineers at the Skolkovo Institute of Technology. Engineers from the laboratory are working on creation of new satellite "Skoltech-F" in the format of a CubeSat. Its design is based on the second-generation of satellite platform SkSP-2, that includes significantly different design solutions compared to the SkSP-1 platform, refering to the first laboratory satellites - Skoltech B1 / B2. They were placed into orbit on August 9, 2022 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The key purpose of the launch is to research errors occurring in various types of electronic memory (MRAM, FRAM, SDRAM, etc.) in conditions of outer space. It’s also planned to evaluate the effectiveness of various error correction algorithms directly on board. As an extra payload, Skoltech-F will carry a digital camera, a high-speed radio channel, a module for radiative cooling, elements of a photonic bead tyre of data bus, and a number of other modules, some of that are intended for future scientific missions. The satellite is still under construction. The estimated completion time is mid-2025.
