Laboratory of Brain-Computer interfaces

Neurophysiology and Neural Interfaces Laboratory’s work is centered on BCIs, the devices that connect the brain to external devices. BCI research contributes to both basic Neuroscience and clinical applications for treatment and rehabilitation of neural pathologies.

The main objective for developing BCIs is related to the expectation that they will become a revolutionary clinical approach to several neural conditions that are currently incurable with traditional medicine, including stroke, head and spinal cord injuries . These severe neurological pathologies affect millions of people worldwide, and the cost of treatment of these people is huge. These patients need efficient treatment for the restoration of their physiological functions and improvement of their quality of life.
