Driving positive change: Skoltech joins AIM-Global in shaping the future of AI in industry
October 30, 2024

The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology has joined AIM-Global, the Global Alliance on Artificial Intelligence for Industry and Manufacturing. This strategic collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing safe, sustainable, and inclusive use of AI in industry and manufacturing.

Guided by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), AIM-Global promotes the responsible development and deployment of AI and frontier. Aligned with the UN Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda, AIM-Global actively shapes a digital future that is open, secure, and beneficial to all.

AI technologies are transforming industry and manufacturing, offering unprecedented opportunities for increased efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. However, the adoption of these technologies also brings ethical considerations, privacy concerns, and the imperative for inclusivity. As a new member, Skoltech is excited to contribute to AIM-Global’s mission of unlocking the full potential of AI for industry.

A private international university in Russia, Skoltech is dedicated to nurturing a new cohort of leaders in the realms of technology, science, and business, conducting research in breakthrough fields, and promoting technological innovation to solve critical national and global problems. Skoltech has achieved significant milestones in both theoretical and applied artificial intelligence research. Among the key achievements of the Institute are developing frameworks based on engineering AI for predictive modeling and decision-making, leveraging AI solutions to address global environmental challenges, and enhancing AI infrastructure for large-scale neural networks. Skoltech holds leading positions by the number of publications in the A*-level conference proceedings. Some papers have been awarded prestigious scientific awards. In 2024, 19 Skoltech professors were featured in the updated Stanford-Elsevier ranking of the world’s top 2% scientists.

“Skoltech membership in AIM-Global marks a significant step in our mission to foster innovation in AI for industry and manufacturing. We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with UNIDO and other global leaders to contribute to the responsible development of AI technologies that not only drive efficiency and productivity but also align with our core values of sustainability and inclusivity,” said Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov
