Associate Professor Aslan Kasimov from the Energy Transition Center joined the scientific committee, shared his expertise, and chaired a section at the Conference on Non-Linear Phenomena and Dynamics of Flame Propagation in Borovoe, Kazakhstan. Aslan gave a talk that discussed recent advances in the dynamics of detonations and flames in periodic media. The researcher illustrated the mode locking phenomenon with the examples of gaseous detonations and flames propagating in periodically nonuniform mixtures or in channels with variable properties. The conference covered topics related to flame structure, its dynamics, kinetics, as well as model reduction to bring together the leading experts in the field of modeling and computation of combustion phenomena and to facilitate collaboration between them.
