Moscow, April 11, 2024 — At the Open Innovations Forum, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (part of VEB.RF group) and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) unveiled a network educational program offered by the MIPT+Skolkovo Technology Entrepreneurship Department and Skoltech and providing new content and quality of learning to train top-notch professionals for the economy’s tech-driven sectors. The students will take courses at both institutes, simultaneously pursuing MIPT+Skolkovo’s degree in technology entrepreneurship and one of Skoltech master’s programs, which include a technology entrepreneurship and innovation module. Graduates will receive diplomas of both universities.
Skoltech and MIPT’s educational initiative aims to train a highly competent workforce for knowledge-intensive industries through academic mobility and the double-degree program. Academic mobility enables students to enhance the competencies acquired in their master’s program by studying extra disciplines taught at another university without enrolling at it. The double-degree program will allow Skoltech and MIPT students to efficiently manage the combined workload of two master’s programs.
MIPT First Vice Rector Elena Anokhova commented: “Skoltech and MIPT’s joint program is a unique opportunity for students to receive two degrees from the country’s top engineering universities well-known for their excellence in scientific research and technology entrepreneurship. This education model will help produce an unprecedented kind of experts who will translate innovations into businesses and drive the development of Russian science and industry.”
Professor Dmitry Kulish, who heads the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Skoltech, said: “Creating a new fundamental education ecosystem is a strategic step forward in the country’s research and technology agenda. I am convinced that this unique joint project of Skoltech, MIPT, and Sk Capital will evolve into a major driver of technology entrepreneurship.”
Sk Capital CEO Vladimir Sakovich, who heads the MIPT+Skolkovo Technology Entrepreneurship Department, added: “The creation of technology groups in industries with high potential for breakthroughs is Sk Capital’s strategic goal for the next three years and one of the key tools for the country’s development. The technology groups created by Sk Capital have a strong demand for highly skilled professionals who should be trained in partnership with the country’s leading universities and learn to deal with real-life projects and tasks. The joint educational initiative launched by MIPT, Skoltech, Skolkovo, and Sk Capital will help cultivate a new generation of talent that will lead the development of technology-intensive industries and groups which will eventually create marketable technology products.”
