Almost a dozen presentations were made  at the conference by the researchers of the Center for Digital Engineering, the Center for Materials Technologies and the Center for Photonic Science and Engineering.

Professor Alexander Korsunsky, President and the Science Chair of the ICKEM & MatDes conference series, Head of the Laboratory for Hierarchically Structured Materials (Skoltech Center for Digital Engineering) gave an extensive introductory plenary lecture devoted to the Rational Experimental-Computational Correlation (RECC) in Structural Engineering and Mechanobiology.

Another plenary talk was delivered by Dmitriy Dzhurinskiy, Associate Professor at the Center for Materials Technologies, who spoke about the Surface Modification through Cold Spray Coating Deposition Method: Theory and Applications. Further, Professor Geoffrey Mitchell from the Institute Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal, gave plenary lecture entitled “The First 30s of an Injection Moulding Cycle – Operando SAXS Measurements”.

Skoltech students, engineers and researchers gave further 11 presentations and participated in the live sessions covering the topics of structural design, manufacturing, applied mechanics, functional materials, biomedical materials and alloys, electrochemistry and applied catalysis, advanced engineering materials and flame retardant coatings, and materials modeling using machine learning.

Skoltech representatives also took an active part in the online panel discussions on metalworking and composite materials, determining the properties of steels, and experiments on the use of hydrogels in bioengineering.

PhD student Alexander Elkin from the Materials Technology Centre won the prize for the best presentation on the "Multiaxial tension-compression fatigue behavior of pultruded glass-fiber composites".

Conference organizers (Program Chairs) included two scientists from the Center for Digital Engineering: Assistant Professor Alexey Salimon, the Programme Leader of the conference,, and Associate Professor Henni Ouerdane, as well as Associate Professor Alexander Safonov from the Centre for Materials Technology.

During the conference, Professor Alexander Korsunsky met with colleagues from the University of Sharjah. Of particular interest was the interaction with Professor Abdul-Hai Al Alami, Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Department, with whom Professor Korsunsky discussed the prospects for co-operation in the field of new materials technologies.

The International Conference on Key Engineering Materials is an annual gathering that provides a unique platform for researchers in the fields of Materials Science and Engineering to share and promote their scientific results and discuss technical challenges and proposed solutions. The conference materials will be published as a special issue in Materials Today: Proceedings by Elsevier. The next conference is planned to be held in Baku (Azerbaijan) in May 2025.
