During Abu Dhabi Global Health Week, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the regulator of the healthcare sector in the emirate, signed five memorandums of understanding with leading Russian health and technology institutions. These agreements are the culmination of a strategic department’s delegation visit to Russia earlier this year, further strengthening the bilateral healthcare partnerships between both nations.
In the presence of Mansoor Al Mansoori, the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, and Mikhail Murashko, the Russian Minister of Health, the MoU was signed with Skoltech, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, JSC “BIOCAD” Biotechnology Company, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, and Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center.
The collaboration with Skoltech fortifies strategic ties between the Emirati and Russian health research ecosystems, amplifying Abu Dhabi’s global positioning in the sector through impactful joint projects, policy alignment, and active participation in key global health events.
“Skoltech is pleased to partner with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health. This MOU reflects our shared commitment to driving impactful advancements in research and technology through collaborative efforts. As part of this MOU, we are opting to foster research, effective technology transfer, and knowledge exchange in strategic health and life sciences through developing joint research, especially in applications of AI to biomedical sciences,” commented Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov.
“Further driving Abu Dhabi’s vision of establishing one of the world’s most intelligent healthcare systems driven by AI, data and advanced technology, our recent delegation to Russia laid the groundwork for these strategic alliances. These partnerships exemplify our collective ambition to advance health technology, positioning both nations at the forefront of global health transformation. Abu Dhabi is leading the conversion of the regional healthcare ecosystem, through leveraging sciences and technology, we are positioning the Emirate as a global life sciences hub and incubator for responsible healthcare innovation,” highlighted Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, the undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
The Institute seeks to offer its expertise in artificial intelligence, which has already proven itself in medicine and beyond. Earlier, Skoltech has partnered with the UAE’s University of Sharjah and established the collaborative Biomedically Informed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, where an international team of researchers is focusing on searching for biomarkers of mental disorders and developing treatment methods that could be tailored to each patient.
As part of the new agreement, Skoltech will continue to share its innovative experience — it appreciates the new opportunity to collaborate with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and explore new areas for the AI application in medicine together.
