Skoltech held strategic session on artificial intelligence in Kyrgyzstan

On November 23, 2024, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) held a strategic session on artificial Intelligence in economy, industry, and public administration in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event, which marked the launch of the “Point of Attraction: Bishkek” project, was attended by the heads of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Presidential Administration and leading universities of Kyrgyzstan, as well as representatives of the republic's professional communities.

Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov gave a presentation on the history and prospects of artificial intelligence in the world. Professor Evgeny Burnaev, who heads the Applied AI Center, discussed how artificial intelligence could benefit specific sectors of the republic's economy and public administration. The discussion moderated by Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov focused on the solutions for the Kyrgyz population, resources needed for their implementation, and further steps in the cooperation between Skoltech and Kyrgyzstan.

 “I am very pleased that the inaugural event of the Point of Attraction was held with the participation of Skoltech and addressed the most pressing issues in the development of AI technologies in Kyrgyzstan. Today, the members of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidential Administration have acquired new competencies in the use of AI tools in several areas of their activities, such as the processing of citizens' complaints, healthcare, emergency monitoring and prevention, construction, and digital agriculture. We will develop and implement all these technologies together,” said Akylbek Zhaparov, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, in his speech.

Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov emphasized, “Kyrgyzstan is embarking on a path of technological advancement, driven by its young population and high demand for technology. Skoltech will be deeply involved in the development of AI within Point of Attraction — a project implemented by Skoltech in cooperation with the Government of the Russian Federation and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.”

The event culminated in agreements between Skoltech, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic on the implementation of several programs, including the transfer of Skoltech’s technologies, in various sectors of the Kyrgyz economy.
