Dr Kazaryan graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1988, and then received his Candidate of Sciences degree from Steklov Mathematical Institute in 1991. He defended the Doctor of Sciences degree in Physics and Mathematics in 2003. His thesis was about characteristic classes in singularity theory. Maxim started his research career at the Moscow Transportation Institute of RAS in 1991. In 1994, he went to work at the Mathematical College of Moscow Independent University, where he currently serves as a Professor. He is also working as a Professor at the Higher School of Economics and as a Leading Research Fellow at Steklov Mathematical Institute of RAS. Dr Kazaryan specializes in geometry, topology, singularity theory, characteristic classes, and moduli spaces. He was a visiting scholar and spoke at universities and research centers in UK, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, USA, Brazil, Canada, Japan, China, and Israel. He is a first author of many publications in journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science.
